Letter from the Board of Directors

On behalf of the Board of Friends of Materials for the Arts and the staff of Materials for the Arts, I welcome you to the newly improved MFTA website. Our hope is that it will provide you with the information you need to participate in our vibrant community of artists, educators, City officials and business leaders.

Since 1978, MFTA has worked to enhance the cultural and physical environment of New York City. There are now over 1,400 registered schools, and over 1,700 registered arts groups, government agencies and community organizations. These include social, health and community service organizations with arts programs.  Every week, hundreds of recipient groups make appointments to collect items for their programs. In 2007 alone Materials for the Arts redistributed over 713 tons of materials valued at over $7 million dollars.

Friends of Materials for the Arts (FOMA) was established in 2002 with a mission to help support MFTA.  FOMA helps MFTA's recipients and donors by expanding programming and providing valuable services. For more information about the many ways in which FOMA helps MFTA thrive, please take a look at our Initiatives.

If you are interested in becoming a friend of Materials for the Arts please click here to learn about the many ways in which you can join our growing network, or please call 718.729.3001 ext. 218.

On behalf of Materials for the Arts and all of the Friends of Materials for the Arts, thank you for visiting this site. We look forward to seeing you at the warehouse.
