Are you interested in donating to Materials for the Arts?
Want to eliminate the clutter in your closet, apartment, office or warehouse?
Become a Materials for the Arts donor and trade your items for a tax deduction. You can join the growing roster of businesses and individuals who contribute to the arts community in NYC. Your donation will benefit thousands of New York City teachers, artists, students and community members while helping to preserve our environment and keep our city a little greener. Supporting Materials for the Arts is simple –start by taking a look in your supply closets and storerooms. Identify items that are in good working condition, yet are no longer needed by you or your organization.
There are 3 ways to donate:

3. We arrange for a Free Pickup of your
donation

Only donations weighing over 250
lbs and/or valued at over $1,000 are eligible for pick-ups.
- Pick-ups are typically scheduled 2 -
3weeks in advance.

We will discuss with you all details
about your donation including how we pick it up - loading dock, elevator,
building insurance.

Our movers cannot accomodate stairs or steps.
- Pictures of furniture must be sent to donations@mfta.nyc.gov for approval

- Office Furniture & Supplies
- Paper
- Computers
- household items

Items we cannot accept: -
Filing cabinets
- Scrap fabric (minimum length is 2yds)
- Toxic chemicals or lead based paint
- Clothing
- Beds or bedding
- and more...
Items we cannot store in the warehouse but can list on Direct Donations:
- Pianos
- Large Appliances- stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines
- platforms, large flats, large set pieces

Funding
We also need donations of the one thing you don't have lying around -- money. While MFTA is a City program, our not-for-profit Friends of Materials for the Arts (FOMA) works to expand and improve our programs and services. FOMA also relies on the generosity of individuals to help sustain these programs and services. You can make an on-line donation through our secure website or print out and mail our Financial Contributions form along with your check.
