Description
Raw Fibers: The Art of Fabric
This studio class will take a single product, fabric, and work out the historical, economic, scientific, social and mathematical properties that are inherent in its use and production; all through hands-on art making. There will be four themes of hands-on practice: spinning, weaving, printing and batik. Participants will learn about the environmental impact of fabric and practice ways of reusing their materials throughout the course. Participants will utilize journaling, research and the sharing of best practices to develop lesson plans from course material for a variety of learning styles and levels that are relevant to their instructional setting. (3P credits) $300+ ASPDP fee ($125) = $425
Each class introduces unique projects and methods for art integration across curriculum areas. Sessions provide differentiation for multiple grade/skill levels, and give participants creative techniques for utilizing low or no cost supplies.
