Ms. Anelle Miller Executive Director, The Society
of Illustrators
Anelle Miller serves as the Executive
Director of The Society of Illustrators in New York. Founded in 1901, the Society has a
long and distinguished history and is recognized around the world as the
preeminent organization for illustrators. Since joining the Society, Ms. Miller
has brought her dynamic leadership style to the organization revamping the
website and overseeing a facelift to the building's interior.
Prior to joining the SOI, Ms. Miller
had a long history with The Estee Lauder Companies, beginning in 1978 as the
Assistant Art Director for Aramis. In 1989, Ms. Miller was asked to lead the
creative team in launching a brand new division for the Estee Lauder
Companies—Origins. In the course of the past 16 years she has been instrumental
in helping to build Origins to be the 5th largest division within the
corporation-a universe of over 20 companies.
In addition to Friends of Materials
for the Arts, Anelle also serves as a board member for the Friends of Art and
Design-a neighborhood association that supports the school, the students and
faculty in a variety of ways. She has worked with groups such as New
Alternatives for Children, First Step- which is a division of The Coalition for
the Homeless, PENCIL, The Foundling, The Euphrasian Residence, B Peace,
Columbia
University Pediatric Oncology Center and AMAC which supports autistic
children and their families.
A graduate from the High School of Art and Design with a major in Fashion
Illustration and Advertising, she received a scholarship to Parsons School of
Design where she graduated with a degree in Illustration and Design.
Ms. Miller is also a partner in a
unique business, Original Women, which brings the handwork of women artisans
from all over the globe to women in the New York metropolitan area.
