Ms. Linda Nelson Chief Development Officer, Office of Institutional Advancement, Weill Cornell Medical College
Linda Nelson is the Chief
Development Officer of Weill
Cornell Medical College in New York City. She is responsible for the
entire fundraising program, including the completion of their $1.3 billion
capital campaign.
Linda Nelson has more than 25 year
of experience in higher education, in development and alumni relations. Linda
has extensive experience in strategic planning, working with high-net-worth
individuals, and in mentoring and managing fundraisers, alumni relations
professionals, and a variety of others within the context of university
development organizations.
Prior to joining Weill Cornell,
Linda was the Senior Deputy Vice President for Development, Arts and Sciences,
at Columbia
University. In this role
from 2005-2008, she supervised a staff of 30 individuals and was responsible for
all fundraising activity for the Arts and Sciences and Athletics, with a
combined capital campaign goal of $1.1 billion. Linda began her Columbia career in 1999 as the Dean for Development and
Alumni Relations at the Law School, where she served until
2005.
From 1995-1998, Linda was the
Vice-President for Development at American UniversityWashington, DC. Her career in higher education development
began at Yale
University in where she was
employed for 13 years, assuming a number of fundraising responsibilities within
the central development office.
