Dr.
Sharon Dunn (ex-officio) Senior Instructional Manager for Arts
Education, Department of Education, The City of New York
Sharon Dunn is the Senior
Instructional Manager for Arts Education at the New York City Department of
Education. She has been an arts educator for over thirty years, serving as an
elementary arts teacher in the New York City public schools and then at district
and central headquarters as an administrator. In addition, she has been an
adjunct assistant professor at several metropolitan area universities.
Dr. Dunn is the primary architect
of the plan for Project ARTS, a mayoral initiative to restore arts education to
the public schools which is still in effect. Dr. Dunn retired from the New York
City Board of Education in 2001 and became the Director of Arts and Cultural
Partnerships for the City University of New York where she developed a Cultural
Passport for the CUNY Honors
College and the Schools of
Education. In 2004, Dr. Dunn returned to the New York City Department of
Education. She is president of the New York State
Alliance for Arts Education.
