PS 138X Travels to MFTA for Fall Workshops

Monday November 17, 2008

Category: MFTA in the News

What a fieldtrip!  Over the course of the fall semester, PS 138 in the Bronx is sending each of its classes to MFTA for a series of workshops that apply the four R's (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Rethink!) to artmaking.  Following a discussion on waste-reduction, Education staff Susan Anderson and Emelia Hiltner lead students through hands-on projects of buckle-bugs, hats, masks, puppets, and more.  With the vast and unpredictable supply of materials from our warehouse floor, the children are introduced to a variety of colors, textures, and materials, which inspire them to look at, describe, and utilize the common and uncommon objects around them.

Check back for image updates as these elementary students continue to inspire us with their creations!

Interested in workshops for your students?  Please direct your questions to our Education Administrator, Susan Anderson (sanderson@mfta.org) at 718-729-3001 x 202; or our Education Assistant, Emelia Hiltner (ehiltner@mfta.org) at x 206.
